Consultation
A dedicated session to talk through your questions, your hopes and your birth or postpartum plans.
Sometimes what you need most is time and space to think out loud, with someone who is genuinely listening. A consultation is a session set aside for exactly that. We go properly into your own situation: your birth preferences, feeding, recovery, a decision you keep turning over, or something that has been sitting with you and won't settle. I'm not here to tell you what to do. I hold space, not opinions. My part is to help you see your own thinking more clearly, to offer information where it's useful, and to help you shape the questions you want to put to your midwife or your doctor. You leave with a clearer head, and usually a lighter one.
Who this is for
This is for you if you'd like one good, focused conversation rather than ongoing support. Perhaps you're weighing something up and keep going round in circles. Perhaps you have a long list of questions and nobody unhurried to ask. Perhaps you've read far too much on the internet and would like to talk to a person instead. Perhaps you want to prepare for an appointment, so you don't leave it wishing you'd said things. Your partner is welcome. We can talk in English, French or Slovak, in Brussels or online.
What happens
You tell me what you'd like to cover
Beforehand, so the time goes on the conversation rather than on the background. Even a few lines is enough.
We talk properly
Unhurried, at your pace, and it doesn't have to stay on the subject you named. Things often move once you start speaking them aloud.
We turn it into something you can use
The options as you see them, what matters most to you, and the questions you want to ask your midwife or your doctor.
You decide what happens next
One session is a complete thing in itself. If you'd like ongoing support afterwards you're very welcome, and if you wouldn't, that's a good outcome too.
Common questions
Will you tell me what the right choice is?
No. Your body, your baby, your decision. I can share information and help you weigh things up, but I won't nudge you towards my answer. That isn't what this is for.
Can I ask you about something medical?
You can raise anything, and I'll be honest when it belongs with a professional. A doula's support is non-medical, so I don't diagnose, advise clinically, or interpret results. Often the most useful thing I can do is help you take a clear question to the right person.
Do I have to be pregnant?
No. People come before conceiving, during pregnancy, after birth, and sometimes months later to make sense of something that happened. All of those are welcome.
How is this different from the free call?
The free call is a short introduction, so the two of us can meet. A consultation is a proper session about you, with time to go deep. If you're not sure which you need, start with the free call and ask me.
